Three roads to the same place

Full FIRE means your investments cover all your spending. With the 4% rule that takes about 25 times what you spend in a year.

Coast FIRE means you have invested enough early that growth alone will reach your full number by a normal retirement age. You keep working, but only to cover today.

Barista FIRE means you leave full-time work once investments cover most of your costs, and part-time income covers the rest, often with health insurance attached.
